  • Rose's Vacation Rentals features Family Oriented, completely furnished rentals sleeping from 2 to 8 persons.
  • Though you may observe a ramp and docking in pictures on my website, or after your arrival here, the ramp and docking are available ONLY to REPEAT CUSTOMERS over past years - and Islanders who have boats in harbor (who are familiar with our very shallow bay). These services are OFF LIMITS to new guests; we suggest that you use the marinas (with ramp and overnight docking) on the south shore of the island.....or the public ramp at the bridge approach on mainland. The Eastmouth Bay (the shortest route to Core Banks channel) is extremely shallow....it has NEVER had a channel dug through it.... it is therefore not marked with any traditional navigational aids. More than one person has ruined an expensive outboard trying to dig themselves off a shoal. The bottom is silty mud for the most part

We do not offer any towing services for those who are aground or who have motor problems - either in the bay nor in any surrounding waters. We suggest that you get a SEA TOW membership (about $l00/year); it is cheap compared to what it could cost to be towed from Cape Lookout to Harkers Island (hundreds of dollars).

The following marinas on island offer use of ramp and overnight docking:

Harkers Island Marina (also known over past years as Island Fishing Center) 252-728-3907
$l5 for ramp and $20/night for overnight docking. Call early in week you plan to arrive - is on an AS AVAILABLE BASIS....since you'd be competing with their motel customers for space
You may have to bring your boat trailer back to our property if they don't have place to park it (inquire)

    Cape Point Marina - 252-728-6181 - Ramp $l5 and overnight docking $l5
You may have to bring your boat trailer back to our property if they don't have a palce to park it (inquire)

Calico Jacks Marina - 252-728-3575 - Ramp $l5 and overnight docking $l5. Nothing is done in advance over phone. Is on a FIRST COME....FIRST SERVED basis. They have parking within l/4 mile of marina (possibly closer if the parking area across the street from the marina is not full) - to park your boat trailer

  • While staying at Roses's Vacation Rentals, bring your kayak and experience the Down East area by water.

  • WIFI is now provided as a free service for all rental guests

  • Boat Storage is available should you like to leave your boat between visits during the season.
  • If you cannot arrive at Rose's Vacation Rentals any earlier than 8:30 - or 9 pm and you need to buy groceries (or eat a late supper) before you retire for the night, then you will need to stop in either Morehead City or Beaufort (if coming by highway 70 east).

In Morehead City there will be a Walmart, Lowes Foods and Food Lion as well as several fast food places: KFC, Burger King, Taco Bell, BoJangles, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Pizza Inn, Hardees, and McDonalds.

In Beaufort (as you are coming further east), there is a Piggly Wiggly and Food Lion grocery stores. Fast Foods are Burger King, McDonalds and Dominoes Pizza.

As you're heading further east and getting closer to Harkers Island (within l0-l5 mintues or so), there is a Dollar General (which closes at 9 pm) which has just basic food selections. There are no fast food restaurants east of Beaufort but The Crossroads Mini-Mart - located at corner of Hwy 70 and Harkers Island Rd. serves meals (has menu). They close at l0 pm on weekday nights and midnight on weekend nights. Seating is limited - since it's part of a convenience store. There is also a rest room.

Most convenience store east of Beaufort usually close by 9 pm......so if you need gas, you will need to get it in Morehead City or Beaufort. Harkers Island is about 25 minutes (l8 miles) from Beaufort
    .

Prime Season is Easter thru December 6th each Year
